The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has announced the deregistration of the National Progressive Democrat (NPD) party, effective Monday, 7 September 2026.
In Public Notice (002) released on 4 September 2026, the Commission stated that the action follows its constitutional and statutory mandate.
The notice informs the leadership and members of the NPD, as well as the general public, of the deregistration.
According to the PPRC, the decision came after the Commission issued several warning letters to the party regarding violations of the Political Parties Act 2022 (Act No. 25 of 2022).
The Commission has advised all institutions that deal with political parties in Sierra Leone not to engage any member of the NPD in any activity going forward.
The PPRC is the statutory body responsible for the registration, regulation, and oversight of political parties in Sierra Leone.
