Ahead of tomorrow’s crucial elections in Uganda, the Leader and Presidential Flagbearer of the main opposition party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), Hon. Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has hosted a delegation of African Election Observers at his residence.

The high-level engagement comes at a critical moment as Ugandans prepare to head to the polls amid heightened political tension, concerns over electoral transparency, and renewed calls for peace and fairness in the democratic process. The presence of African election observers underscores growing continental attention on Uganda’s electoral environment and the need to uphold democratic norms, human rights, and the rule of law.
During the meeting, Bobi Wine reportedly briefed the observers on the prevailing political climate, the challenges facing opposition parties, and the importance of guaranteeing a free, fair, and credible election. He emphasized the role of independent election observation in discouraging electoral malpractice and strengthening public confidence in the outcome of the polls.
The African Election Observers, drawn from various countries and institutions across the continent, are in Uganda to monitor campaign conduct, voting procedures, security arrangements, and the overall integrity of the electoral process. Their findings are expected to contribute to regional and international assessments of Uganda’s elections as citizens and the global community closely watch developments ahead of the decisive vote.
