Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally has hit back hard at claims by the SLPP that he still belongs to both the SLPP and the Citizens Democratic Party (CDP).
In a letter dated 18 September 2026 to SLPP National Chairman Jimmy Batilo Songa, Tarawally made it clear he quit the CDP years ago. He said he resigned from that party in 2018 and came back fully to the SLPP. To prove it, he attached a copy of his resignation letter dated 15 June 2018.
Tarawally insisted he is a proper, fully paid-up SLPP member. He holds the position of Grand Chief Patron and National Delegate, and he is openly running to become the party’s flagbearer for the next elections.
He also questioned whether the Chairman alone has the power to kick him out of the party.
According to him, any serious disciplinary action should go through the National Executive Council and follow the proper party rules.
Tarawally said the Chairman’s letter has damaged his good name and amounts to cyberbullying. He has told his lawyers to look into taking legal action. This could include cases under the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act 2021, a civil case for defamation, and other constitutional steps.
He ended by saying he remains a full member of the SLPP and will keep pushing his bid to become the party’s presidential candidate.
Tarawally is a well-known figure in Sierra Leone politics. He started in the SLPP, later served in government under the APC, then formed and led the CDP in the 2018 elections before returning to the SLPP. He has been actively campaigning for the 2028 flagbearer race and has received support from some party structures at constituency level.
