At least 22 people were killed and 28 others injured in a bus crash in eastern Egypt on Wednesday morning, the country’s health ministry said.
The accident occurred on the road between the Red Sea towns of Dahab and Nuweiba in South Sinai governorate.
According to reports from Egyptian and Jordanian media, as many as 10 Jordanian nationals were among those killed. The total number of passengers on board at the time of the crash has not been confirmed.
In a statement, the Egyptian health ministry said all 28 injured people were receiving treatment at three different hospitals in the area.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The Dahab-Nuweiba route is a popular tourist corridor that attracts visitors from around the world. Authorities have not released details on the nationalities of all victims.
Deadly road accidents are common across Egypt. Official figures reported nearly 6,000 fatalities from traffic accidents in 2025. Authorities often attribute such incidents to reckless driving and poor road maintenance.
Last month, 18 people were killed and 30 injured when two lorries collided in the north-eastern Ismailia governorate.
