The All People’s Congress (APC) Independent Election Complaints Board (IECB) has suspended all its operations with immediate effect, citing a recent High Court ruling.
In a public notice dated August 28, 2026, the Board said the decision follows an interim injunction delivered by Hon. Mr. Justice A. Fisher on August 27, 2026.
As a result, all scheduled hearings for ward rerun election petitions have been cancelled. Hearings set for Saturday, August 29, 2026, will not proceed until further notice.
The suspension affects all IECB operations, petitioners, and the general membership of the party. The Board apologized to members who had already made travel arrangements to Freetown for the hearings, acknowledging the inconvenience caused. It said further communication will be issued once new directives are received.
The High Court’s ruling on August 27 restrained Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh and Lansana Dumbuya from holding themselves out as APC National Chairman and Leader and National Secretary General, respectively.
The court also barred them from convening executive meetings or performing any functions related to the day-to-day running of the party.
The injunction will remain in force pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application.
The matter has been adjourned to August 31, 2026, for an inter partes hearing.
