The All People’s Congress (APC) has elected a new district executive in Pujehun District following internal elections held on Saturday, 27 September 2026.
In a complete overhaul of the district leadership, all incumbent executive positions were replaced, including the chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, Young Congress Leader and Women’s Leader.
Mr Sylvester Massaquoi was elected District Chairman after polling 61 valid votes to defeat the incumbent chairman, Mr Mohamed Amadu Sesay, popularly known as Dr Woo, who secured 51 votes.
The elections were conducted at the APC District Office in Pujehun Town and brought together delegates and stakeholders from across the district.
The poll formed part of the APC’s ongoing lower-level elections nationwide, which the party says are aimed at resolving outstanding internal disputes and completing its grassroots structures ahead of the next national delegates’ conference.
The Pujehun district election had earlier been rescheduled from 19 September following violent clashes during constituency elections in the district that left several party supporters, journalists and security personnel injured, and resulted in the death of a security officer.
Massaquoi and the newly elected executive will now be tasked with reorganising the party and strengthening its presence in Pujehun, a district traditionally dominated by the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
