Former President Ernest Bai Koroma has just arrived at Freetown International Airport.
He is back after joining the ECOWAS conference that Sierra Leone hosted not long ago. His return also comes after the Attorney-General dropped the treason case and related charges against him. Those charges had been linked to the events of November 2023. Koroma had been living in Nigeria for more than two years after the case was first brought in early 2024.
Senior APC leaders and supporters, along with some government officials, are expected to meet him at the airport. Family members, including his granddaughter, were also there to welcome him. From there, he will begin his activities in the country.
This is a big moment for the former president and the APC. People who follow politics will be looking carefully at what he does and says in the coming days, especially as the country moves closer to the next general elections.
