The Jagaban Foundation, headquartered in Freetown, has strongly dismissed rumors circulating on social media about the alleged arrest and molestation of Sheikh Mohamed Ormodu Kamara, popularly known as “Jagaban.” In a press release issued on Wednesday, December 12, 2024, the Foundation categorically labeled the claims as baseless and fabricated.
The rumors, which included allegations that Jagaban had been arrested and that his passport was confiscated as part of a police investigation, were described as “wrongfully reported.” The Foundation clarified that no such incidents ever occurred and that the politician and philanthropist had not been subjected to any form of interrogation.
“Let it also be known that Mr. Kamara has never and will never be involved in anything that will undermine the peace of our beloved country, Sierra Leone,” the statement emphasized, adding that such falsehoods only exacerbate the struggles of the nation.
Jagaban, a prominent figure in the All People’s Congress (APC) and a staunch advocate for national development, expressed his disappointment over the spread of such malicious rumors. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace and supporting vulnerable communities across the country. “I believe in Allah, as He is my strongest pillar, and no one can destroy another human being without His approval,” he was quoted as saying.
The Foundation condemned the rumors as “fallacious and scandalous,” asserting that they were deliberately crafted to disrupt the efforts of those working toward positive change in Sierra Leone. The organization urged individuals to desist from spreading such misinformation, highlighting the harm it could cause to the Kamara family and well-meaning citizens.
Currently, Sheikh Mohamed Ormodu Kamara has returned to the United States to continue his family and business commitments after concluding productive engagements in Sierra Leone. The Foundation called on detractors to focus on constructive efforts rather than tarnishing the reputation of individuals dedicated to national progress.
The statement concluded by encouraging Sierra Leoneans to remain vigilant against misinformation, which risks undermining the country’s hard-earned peace and socio-economic stability.
