The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has recovered more than Le 75 billion (old leones) from corruption-related cases and returned the funds to the government’s Consolidated Fund, reinforcing efforts to promote transparency and accountability in public finance management.

Speaking on the recovery, Francis Ben Kaifala, Commissioner of the ACC, confirmed that all recovered monies have been handed over to the state and are subject to independent oversight.
He noted that expenditures from the Consolidated Fund will be audited by the Auditor General’s Office, which will flag any irregularities for further action. According to the Commissioner, the funds returned by the ACC are believed to have been directed toward legitimate and beneficial national purposes.
The recovery marks a significant milestone in the ACC’s anti-corruption drive, demonstrating its commitment to ensuring that stolen public resources are retrieved and redirected to serve the interests of the people of Sierra Leone.
