The Government of Sierra Leone has confirmed that there is sufficient fuel supply in the country and that pump prices will remain unchanged.
In a Public Notice issued today by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, government said following engagements with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), prices will continue as:
– Petrol – NLe40.00 per litre
– Diesel – NLe45.00 per litre
According to the Ministry, the current full market prices without government support are NLe41.80 for petrol and NLe47.89 for diesel.
To keep prices stable, government said it will continue to pay the difference as subsidy:
– Petrol subsidy – NLe1.80 per litre
– Diesel subsidy – NLe2.89 per litre
The Ministry said the subsidy will remain in place until the next fuel price review.
Government also confirmed that it will continue to provide additional targeted fuel subsidy for Waka Fine buses to keep current transport fares unchanged.
It assured the public that it will continue to engage OMCs and closely monitor fuel supply, distribution and prices across the country.
