A High Court in Freetown has temporarily stopped two top APC officials from acting as leaders of the All People’s Congress.
The court order, given on Thursday, August 27, 2026, says Osman Foday Yansaneh and Lansana Dumbuya cannot call themselves National Chairman and Leader, or National Secretary General of the APC.
The judge made the order after hearing a request in chambers. The order bars both men from; holding or calling APC executive meetings, running the day-to-day work of the party, and acting in any way like the Chairman or Secretary General
The ban will stay in place until the court hears the full case and makes a final decision.
The court also warned that anyone who disobeys the order can be held in contempt. That can mean jail, a fine, or seizure of property.
This is not the first time the APC has faced a court order like this. A few days earlier, another injunction was lifted after a case by the National Reformation Movement.
Lansana Dumbuya has also been in the news recently. He was denied bail in February 2026 over charges related to public order, and has been remanded at Pademba Road Prison. The PPRC also fined the APC NLe 350,000 over statements made at a party meeting.
APC lawyers have in the past described such court actions as “using the court as a playground to settle political scores”.
For now, the party’s top leadership cannot meet or make decisions in the names of Chairman and Secretary General until the High Court decides next.
