Shock and grief have gripped residents of Freetown following the brutal killing of a female student of the Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU), Salamatu Sesay, popularly known as Salma Sesay.
Her lifeless body was discovered in the early hours of Saturday, January 10, 2026, inside an unfinished building along Peter Lane in Marjay Town, a residential area located just a short distance from her home.
Sources close to the investigation say the circumstances surrounding her death strongly suggest foul play, raising serious concerns among residents of the community. The discovery has left many in shock, with neighbors describing the incident as disturbing and heartbreaking.

Officers from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a full-scale investigation into the incident. Although no arrests have been made so far, police authorities have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to uncover the cause of death and identify those responsible.
Salamatu Sesay was a student at MMTU, one of Sierra Leone’s leading technical and vocational institutions. Friends, colleagues, and lecturers described her as kind-hearted, hardworking, and deeply committed to her education, despite the many challenges faced by young people across the country.
