Popular Lagos-based cleric, Pastor Chris Okafor, has turned himself in to the Nigeria Police Force following allegations of rape and sexual abuse, as investigations into the case were transferred to the Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, Lagos.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, Pastor Okafor failed to appear earlier at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, on Monday, prompting police authorities to escalate the matter due to its sensitive and high-profile nature.
The allegations were made by a former church member who accused the cleric of sexual assault and prolonged abuse. The claims, which surfaced online, quickly gained public attention and sparked widespread debate about accountability and abuse of power within religious institutions.
Police sources confirmed that the transfer of the case to Zone 2 Command was intended to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation. Zone 2, which oversees police operations in Lagos and Ogun states, is known for handling complex and high-profile cases.
Pastor Okafor reportedly presented himself at the Zone 2 Command, where he is expected to give a formal statement to investigators. His legal team has denied the allegations, describing them as false and insisting that he is ready to cooperate fully with the police to clear his name.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has urged the public to remain calm and allow due process to take its course, while civil society groups continue to call for transparency and justice as investigations continue.
