The National Chairman of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Hon. Minkailu Mansaray, has renewed calls for unity and reconciliation within the party, stressing the need for a collective focus on its overarching mission.
Speaking at a Fundraising Dinner organized by the APC Southern Region Executive, Mansaray employed a powerful metaphor to illustrate the importance of capable leadership. He likened the party to a vehicle, stating, “If we have a reckless driver who is unable to drive our vehicle, we must stop that reckless driver and find a competent one.” This, he explained, underscored the urgency of addressing leadership challenges decisively.
Mansaray expressed dissatisfaction with the recognition of individual factions within the party, urging members to embrace teamwork. “The APC must operate as one unified team… Team APC,” he declared, calling for inclusivity and competence to take precedence over divisions. He encouraged members to adopt an open-door policy to foster unity and promote a conducive environment for the party’s growth.
In addition, the Chairman announced plans to construct a new APC office in the southern region and advocated for structural reforms to increase youth participation. Recognizing the impact of internal divisions, he urged members to heal past wounds and refocus on transforming Sierra Leone’s political landscape.
Reinforcing this message, APC National Secretary General, Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya, emphasized the need to prioritize the party’s collective interests over personal ambitions, particularly in the Flagbearer race. He warned that internal rivalries and factionalism could weaken the APC’s position as a strong opposition force. “We are all APC, and we cannot afford to act as if we are divided,” Dumbuya stated, urging members to present a united front to the public.
Both leaders underscored the critical importance of unity, inclusivity, and strategic leadership as the APC prepares for the next phase of its political journey.
